Oral appliances are indicated for use in patients with mild to moderate OSA. Oral appliance therapy includes the selection, fabrication, fitting, and long-term follow up care of custom designed oral appliances. They work by repositioning the tongue and/or jaw. This depends on the type of OSA with which the patient is suffering. These appliances resemble sports mouth guards and are worn during sleep. Oral appliances are comfortable, non-invasive, easy to wear, and small; making them easy to take along while traveling.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends and supports new practice parameters validating the effectiveness of dental appliances as a first line treatment for people who have mild to moderate OSA or are unable to comply with C-PAP treatment. In some cases, physicians may prescribe the combination of both C-PAP and an oral appliance as treatment for a patients OSA.

It is recommended to seek professional help if you are suffering from sleep-related breathing problems.
